This detached house, with 141.51 m² of roof area plus garage and swimming pool, is located in a unique landscape and environment in the province of Málaga, the Serranía de Ronda. Framed by the Sierra de Grazalema to the west and the Sierra de las Nieves to the southeast, the building unfolds, fragments, and rotates to create a perfect symbiosis between the surrounding world, the program of needs, and the interior atmosphere. A home permeable to the landscape.

The rural setting is located just 2.3 km from the town of Arriate. The area, known as Los Picachos, is strongly influenced by the surrounding natural landscape and the Ventilla stream, a gorge lined with diverse plant species and frequented by mountain wildlife. A vibrant environment.

The intervention area is undergoing a transition from abandonment to consolidation. Casa Acordeón stands as one of the first dwellings to become part of the built environment and serves as a model of coexistence between architecture and landscape, the latter being the true protagonist.

From the green of the olive grove to the furrowed soil, from the rugged profile of the mountains to a vast green carpet that spreads freely across the ground, and from the white and tile of the scattered rural buildings to the blue sky above them. A whole world of color, sensations, and stimuli that guide the project's design to minimize the impact of this new addition. So much so, in fact, that the existing topography of the plot is respected as much as possible, with excavation only for the foundation trenches of the load-bearing walls that form each volume, leaving the rest of the plot open, defined only by gravel paths and vegetation.

The building complex comprises three interconnected, large, quadrangular prisms constructed with thick load-bearing walls, sheltered by an extensive white rammed earth wall that runs along the perimeter. It resembles an Andalusian farmhouse. Each volume has a different height, determined by spatial needs and following a bioclimatic strategy. The separation of these volumes creates flared exterior spaces where pressure changes generate breezes that help cool and regulate the temperature of the interior spaces during the warmer months, as well as creating shaded outdoor areas. Similarly, the proximity and height of the volumes cast shadows on the facades and roofs, reducing the high temperatures these elements can reach due to excessive solar radiation. Furthermore, vegetation and trees surround the house, acting as a thermal and acoustic buffer.

These volumes are connected by invisible bridges, creating a pathway that invites us to experience a series of sensations evoked by the way external stimuli are perceived from within the building.

In terms of the functional program, the house is divided into three modules: The first, which houses the garage and is therefore closest to the entrance; the second, central module, which has two floors containing the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen; and finally, the third, the volume furthest from the entrance, connected to the central module by a bridge and directly linked to the exterior and the pool area.
