The project is located on Chihuahua Beach, Uruguay, on the dune that constitutes the first line of buildings facing the sea.
A structural system of columns, beams, and reinforced concrete slabs places the “piano nobile” ten meters above sea level.
This way, in addition to providing the best views of the sea, it guarantees the continuous dynamic balance of the dune, allowing the wind to interact with the sandbanks.
On the consolidated support of the structure and the service plinth, two compact volumes are assembled, articulated by a series of extensions that function as outflows from the dune. The envelope is made of a steel frame clad in lapacho planks on the exterior and white-painted pine on the interior.
The largest volume is the main house, with a large living/dining/kitchen area that opens onto a cantilevered viewing terrace overlooking the sea, offering long views of Punta Ballena and the sunset over Piriápolis. Another terrace to the north, protected from the winds, serves as an outdoor kitchen. Two bedrooms and a bathroom complete the program.
The smallest volume is the guest pavilion, which has a living room, terrace, two bedrooms, and bathrooms.
This programmatic division allows the independent use of the units.
The material expression of the complex is in direct consonance with some vernacular constructions, confirming the relevance of the chosen system in relation to the requirements of the site.
