Casa MB

Colle.Croce as Architects

The MB house is a residence for permanent use located in the closed neighborhood of San Carlos north of the province of Buenos Aires.

The street in which the house is located is parallel and adjacent to the Pan-American highway, forming next to a wooded fence the northern edge of the neighborhood. This border situation was decisive for its placing towards the plot and its massive expression towards the street.

The program of uses is developed in two floors, in the ground floor is the, dining room, kitchen and a sector of social use that ends up in a study, a solarium and pool. the shape of L of the house tries to close its relationship towards the street and its neighbors in order to open itself to the inner landscape of the site. The upper floor is compact and houses the bedrooms. The main room has a large expansion that allows an excellent view of the landscape.

On the ground floor, a protected environment which provides privacy to the interior spaces.

Creating a expansion to the scale the house that serves also as a spatial filter towards the street. The living room is between two patios and the social space of the gallery has a direct relationship with a solarium of similar proportions.

The arrival experience from the street is deactivated by a sequence of different travel situations: an access bridge, a ramp that is soon protected by a semi-covered space and a room with a large fixed cloth that frames the expansion of the living room.

The material expression of the set is solved with an independent structure of concrete in the way of bands of great horizontality. A complete solid wall on the ground floor and on the upper floor resolves a wooden Kiri wall. The stratification of these concrete bands is very clear and refers to the natural terrain, defining a difference between the level of piano nobile and the grass.

The project proposes a very direct relationship and once contained with the environment, it minimizes its interferences propitiating a good quality of living experience.
