House VT

The project of VT house represents a prototype of a house that tries to present itself with a different approach to architecture and construction in the residential area of the Padana plain. The ordinariness of the context in which it is located represents the real strength of this house which, in its small way, becomes the manifest of a sustainable philosophy of nowadys architecture.

The cluster of different architectural languages of buildings built in the context with traditional systems become fertile ground for expressing a different point of view where this project attempts to propose a simple architecture by adopting sustainable construction principles that pay attention to the concept of circular economy. The composition of this building is rooted in the architectural principles concerning tectonics and stereotomy, that is the design archetypes that refer to the concept of "cave" and "hut".

A regular base welcomes the noblest spaces of the house on the ground floor and, at the same time, supports a small volume in the shape of an "elementary house" which represents the sleeping area on the first floor. The attention to the orientation of the building influences the internal distribution of the spaces which follow a clear subdivision along the east/west axis represented by the figure of the staircase.

The use of natural light becomes of primary importance in the House VT, because it becomes a tool for functional management of the spaces that are adjusted according to their needs.

Vertical light becomes the protagonist in some distribution areas such as the stairwell where a roof window, placed flush with the wall, allows the washout of the wall and allows the light to descend to the ground floor, creating a strong relationship with the external light.
