Located on the noble floor of a mid-19th-century building, the apartment originally consisted of a series of fragmented spaces created over different periods. The project aimed to recover and enhance the remaining original elements, reconciling the relationship between contemporary living and the historic context. The large structural vault, measuring 5.5 by 8.5 meters, was freed from layers of suspended ceilings added over time, revealing portions of the original frescoes.

The living and sleeping areas are separated by a translucent polycarbonate partition, allowing the full spatial volume of the apartment to remain visually connected. Door frames follow the original layout of the residence, emphasizing its historic enfilade arrangement without corridors. All service functions—including the entrance, bathroom, kitchen, and walk-in closet—are contained within a lowered functional volume positioned beneath the spring line of the vault.

This service core appears as a pure white volume, contrasting with the richness and vibrancy of the frescoed ceiling. Old and new interact through contrast, with each element reflecting the era and client to which it belongs. For this reason, all elements contained within the service volume, such as the bathroom and kitchen, are defined by a rigorous minimalism.
