4 Bedrooms, 3 Full Bath, 1 Half Bath
Upon entering the original home, the cramped and awkward living space begged for an extensive remodel, and that is exactly what Forum Phi set out to do. The objective was to open the space and flow of the home allowing for comfort, function, and style. First, square footage was added to create the open living room and outdoor space. The personality of the new style was established as soon the original siding was replaced with Board and Batten, giving the home a contemporary twist on a wine country farmhouse. Natural light was allowed in through a cupola above the living room adding instant energy and life to the indoors. The kitchen, which was once claustrophobic and closed off, was then designed in an L-shape and included within the open living space. Although a major design change, the new living area is made to feel as though it is part of the original home.
An outdoor kitchen and dining area was added to maximize the exceptional backyard. The outdoor grill was built within stone so that it resembles a fireplace. A huge sliding glass pocket doors allows the indoor living space to open completely to the outdoor living space helping to bring bridge the outside and inside. A structure that once served as pool storage transformed into a posh pool house with bathroom. A bocce court now sits beside the outdoor pool. The house is now so outstanding inside and out, it is hard for the client to decide where to spend their time at home. Charter Oak is a magnificent residential transformation in California’s wine country.
