The CIRCULAR VILLA by ANTIREALITY is a conceptual design for a summer house nestled within a cliff recess. The central goal of this project was to seamlessly integrate the house’s form into the rocky landscape. The white, abstract volume of the design fits harmoniously within the cliff’s niche while maintaining a distinct geometric identity.
The building’s name reflects not only the spiral shape of the central staircase, which leads to a circular rooftop pool, but also the overarching circular motifs employed throughout the design. Inspired by the breathtaking views of the surrounding environment, the villa evokes the idea of an observatory-like retreat. At its heart, the central circulation core rises like a tower, with all functional zones arranged around it. Expansive terraces on every level serve as viewing platforms, offering opportunities to observe the surrounding wildlife. In line with the dry and warm climate, the Circular Villa challenges the traditional division between indoor and outdoor spaces. The terraces and circulation core create a natural flow between these areas, enhancing the connection to the environment. The roof terrace, capped by a circular pool, provides a panoramic view of the landscape.
The Circular Villa consists of five main functional zones. The work area is located on level 0 and is designed as a studio. The day area occupies level I, housing the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom. The night area is situated on level II, featuring the bedroom and another bathroom. The viewing area on level III includes the terraces and the rooftop pool, while the central spiral staircase connects all levels, serving as the circulation core.
A significant portion of the villa's 750 m² area is dedicated to terraces and outdoor spaces, emphasizing the connection to the natural surroundings. The folded slab design visually unites all building zones with the cliffside environment. The main structure is constructed from reinforced concrete, while the facade combines glass and perforated metal panels. Interior finishes prominently feature white wooden panels. The villa’s circular facade elements are movable, allowing adaptation to the sun’s position. This flexible facade system enhances comfort and meets diverse user needs, blending innovation with simplicity.
