The illuminated feature wall casts RGB light onto the primary staircase inside the lobby of this healthcare building, which can be seen from the outside through the full height glass facade. The vertical design of the accent wall emphasizes the height of the space while infusing light into the entrance area and creating visual interest.

Twenty-one LED Light Panels form the three dynamic wall features of the lobby, controlled by DMX decoders with signal amplification. The color changing panels create a broad array of colors that fade slowly through the visible color gamut. This is theoretically 16 million colors, which is the product of 255 x 255 x 255 (the range for each channel). The vibrant lighting effect can be set to static colors to support various causes, special events and health awareness campaigns.

SITU Fabrication, founded in 2005 in Brooklyn, NY, and Evo-Lite partnered for the final sizing and integration of the LED light panels and the acrylic panels. Read more about SITU Fabrication’s unlighted rippled backdrop wall derived from the movement of water here.

The Lighting Practice, with offices in New York and Philadelphia, designed the lighting and control system for the new pavilion. Harvested daylight and reactive lighting work together to save energy and enhance the occupants’ well-being and wayfinding.

Showing an understanding of evidence-based design combined with innovative technologies, Francis Cauffman designed the Cooperman Family Pavilion, a new five story addition at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. The new pavilion adds 241,000 square feet, including 114 private patient rooms, to the RJW Saint Barnabas Medical Center, the oldest and largest nonprofit, nonsectarian hospital in New Jersey.
