From a home with no clearly defined identity, completely reimagined, emerges CUBO, a project that seeks to create a contemporary, serene and timeless living space. The intervention is guided by a clear idea: to bring order, simplify and give meaning to every element, allowing the space and its materials to take centre stage.

The design is built around a palette of grey tones and a carefully curated selection of materials that bring continuity and balance to the overall composition. At the heart of the home stands the feature that gives the project its name: a large aluminium cube that organises the living area and becomes the centrepiece of the intervention.

Beyond its visual presence, the cube incorporates several kitchen functions. Part of the cabinetry, the appliances and the storage space are integrated within its volume, while a generous breakfast area completes its functionality. Bringing all these elements together in a single volume keeps the space uncluttered and allows a feature that combines functionality and design to take centre stage.

The cube’s metallic finish contrasts with the exposed concrete elements that have been preserved and the grey ceramic flooring. The combination of these materials, together with the simple geometry of the volumes, creates a restrained and balanced aesthetic in which every element finds its place.

Light plays a fundamental role in shaping the perception of the space. Throughout the day, natural light transforms the materials and their tonalities. At night, integrated lighting at the base of the cube visually lightens its presence, creating the impression that it floats above the floor and adding a new dimension to the space without disturbing its sense of calm.

The comprehensive renovation, encompassing everything from the layout to the building services, makes it possible to rethink the organisation of the home and improve its functionality. The aim is to create a clear layout, fluid circulation and uninterrupted visual connections between the different areas, eliminating unnecessary elements and giving value to what is essential.

Against the understated material palette, greenery introduces a natural touch and a hint of colour. Mirrors visually expand the rooms and create new perspectives, while the lighting enhances the textures and nuances of each surface.

The result is a functional, contemporary home defined by clean lines and a distinctive identity. CUBO demonstrates that simplicity does not mean sacrificing character, but rather discovering it in the details, the materials and the way we experience a space.
