The project completion headquarters of the Cultural Center of Spain (CCE ) raised the improvement and consolidation of spaces using the SCC for a variety of events and exhibitions. The dynamics and cultural offering that had the CCE was enhanced by spaces that allow modes , forms or formats of artistic activities that previously could not be done in the SCC , and create opportunities to make more efficient and / or attractive these activities.
One of the central ideas of the project was integrated into the urban fabric of the historic center of Mexico City , conceiving the CCE as a passage linking different areas and cultural programs to the historic center offers . One can cross the street to the street Guatemala Donceles by CCE, making this intersection a step exhibition sites , giving a strong public dimension to the interior passage .
The program includes several floors of flexible , capable of functioning as exhibition spaces, conferences, seminars, workshops, children's activities, theater, concerts, etc uses. Achieving this, coupled with the complexity of the project location, is one of the most significant challenges.
To solve a structure to have large column-free and heights above 4.5m surfaces arises .
Architecturally, the relationship with the historical context , represented another challenge. To integrate the building context , one historic and one contemporary , we have proposed that the facades and volumes are respectful of the proportions of the streets and buildings that define them. Exposed concrete , corten steel , latticed and remetimientos seek to replicate the colors and depth of the facades of the buildings of the center while remaining faithful to the contemporary project.
