Deluxe is a globally renowned media services and digital post-production, asset management and copyright protection company that works with a diverse and global client list. 

As a progressive content media company, Deluxe has highly specialized audio/video requirements for their high-end production facility. In order to design their three-story Toronto office, located in a renovated 1990s data centre, Deluxe needed an architecture and design firm that would understand their complex information technology requirements and that had expertise in workflow, flexible space and creative work environments, which is why they engaged Quadrangle.

Design charettes between Deluxe and Quadrangle were an important tool that allowed Quadrangle to understand the opportunities the project offered and together they made sure the office space design was an extension of Deluxe’s brand.

The interior design team opened up three floors of space, substantially increased ceiling heights, and added a twenty-four-foot-high mixing theatre on top of the existing roof for feature film work. The company’s range of facilities – mixing rooms and a variety of post-production editing suites – is supported by a communal cafeteria, a three-level connection stair, meeting rooms and office areas planned around a sunlit atrium. The project includes custom graphics that range from photographic murals shot on Toronto filming locations to time stamps on doors marking the industry’s key milestones. Selective use of bold colours and design-centric furniture pieces provide high impact, brand consistency.

The space design is particularly successful in the acoustical separation of noise-producing and noise-sensitive functional areas. Large glazed areas promote an open concept which is unusual in technology and production environments. The facility includes production suites, mixing facilities, a theatre, open office work areas and data rooms, as well as a large community lounge and VIP dining room, perfect for hosting clients and staff.
