Eco friendly horticulture pavilion

As a learning environment for the horticultural school of the ITA and visitor center of Jardin D.A. Séguin, the pavilion stands by its functional design throughout built elements, created based on user’s needs, plants integration and horticultural constraints, in a sustainable perspective. Implantation of roof terraces, green roofs, rain gardens, organized terraces and plant occultation systems helped the creation of various microclimates. These spaces stand as learning areas and are demonstration of horticultural integration to design. Teaching areas opens onto the garden allowing a merge of theory with practice. Ubiquity of plants and varied horticultural techniques of the pavilion promotes exploratory teaching as well as advances and innovations in horticultural science. Therefore, the building serves schooling and has the capacity to evolve as educational methods do. Accessible to public, the site enable to sense, as you enter, the intimate relation between building and nature. The building volumes tend to get closer to the residential scale to create landmarks that will allow visitors to understand systems in place and be able to reproduce it, gaining from environmental horticulture advantages.
