With the goal of transforming an existing apartment into a more functional, welcoming, and personality-filled space, Estúdio Naia designed the EG Apartment renovation. The project began with a layout that lacked flow and focused on optimizing space by integrating the living room, kitchen, and balcony.

“This apartment was designed to undergo a quick renovation, with no major structural changes. The client, a single man, was looking for a functional space with a design that balanced youthfulness and sophistication — suitable for both everyday life and entertaining,” explain Samuel Cury and Dayane Rosseto, partners at Estúdio Naia.

The main layout change was the unification of two bathrooms into a spacious master bath, while still maintaining a powder room for guests. A new stove location made it possible to connect the kitchen more seamlessly to the social areas. With targeted and efficient solutions, the renovation redefined the resident’s daily life without requiring major construction or long timelines.

In the living room, a standout feature is the folding muxarabi screen door, which provides a controlled connection between the interior and the balcony. Besides being functional — encouraging cross ventilation and thermal comfort — the wooden panels filter natural light and cast soft shadows throughout the day, ensuring privacy without fully closing off the space.

With contemporary and industrial references, the project was carried out through a collaborative process with the client, who shared color palettes and visual references to guide the transformation. Some existing furniture — such as the sofa, armchair, and glass table — was kept and integrated into the new language with balance and freshness.

One of the core strategies was the use of exposed cement texture on all walls and ceilings, providing visual unity and reinforcing a minimal, urban aesthetic. In the bathrooms, black pebbles add texture and personality, especially in the shower area and the powder room floor. The apartment's original natural wood flooring was preserved and restored, adding warmth to the overall composition.

Lighting also plays a key role in shaping the atmosphere of the EG Apartment. Recessed light profiles and linear fixtures create different scenes throughout the day, highlighting materials, enhancing textures, and contributing to a versatile and inviting ambiance aligned with the sober, contemporary character envisioned for the space.
