Located in the north suburbs of Athens, the project intends to provide a modern urban lifestyle for a family.
The structure of the residence consists of two stone volumes, one wall and one concrete slab.
The above synthesis situated in the ground floor shapes a patio, which becomes the focal point of the house. The patio is in a dialogue with the internal and external space and exposes the existence of the building aesthetically and functionally.
More specifically, the concrete slab gives the idea of a floating pergola ending to a totally free and continuous space, utilizing to the maximum the natural light which is a basic element in our habitual experience. This concrete pergola functions in two ways. It provides a clear volume with a structural integrity, while shaping the common areas underneath as a functional element.
Alternatively, the private areas are secluded in the two stone volumes providing quiet and view over the patio and the pool.
Above this ground floor synthesis, the minimal facade is enriched by an extra white floating cladding volume.
The use of natural materials such as raw concrete, stone, wood, water and earthy tones blends with the surrounding environment and offers a habitual comfort that encourages mindful connection with family, friends and the ability to exist peacefully in nature.
