Complete renovation of the entire apartment, approximately 160 square meters. We virtually demolished all non-load-bearing walls and redesigned the layout from scratch. All the systems were completely redone, including the air conditioning system; the windows and doors were replaced; the floor screeds were redone, and consequently, all the coverings were replaced. We retained only two original wood and glass doors, which we reused in the entrance area as elements of continuity between the old and new.
To break up the hallway and bedrooms, it was necessary to redesign the space as a single, new space, allowing for the redistribution of the bedrooms, taking into account the exterior windows and natural light. This resulted in the large, open-plan living room and kitchen, which opens on two sides and is illuminated both from the southwest side facing the street and from the interior side facing northeast.
A pillar left in the middle of the space served as the inspiration for a very open bookcase, extending through several points. This conceals the pillar within the furniture and creates a sort of filter for the passage to the sleeping area. By interplaying volumes, furnishings, and recessed ceilings, the use of colors (denim and burgundy) created chromatic geometries that lend a warm and dynamic atmosphere.
The sleeping area is organized into two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. At the entrance, before the living area, a small storage room and wardrobe were created on one side and a bedroom/study on the other, which remains private both for work and for occasional guests.
