Based on a very precise architectural and clinical function based analysis of the existing Hospital Lillebaelt Kolding we have succeeded in cooperation with shl architects to create the prerequisite for an unusually good functional and architectural cohesion between old and new in a future Hospital Lillebaelt Kolding - a contemporary super hospital.

The new plant is set with a unifying space formation south as the framework for a new entrance situation. The new vestibule, Surgical ward, X-ray Department, Emergency Department building and bed building located to existing volumes such that the new hospital is set with a whole new identity. The house stands with both horizontal and vertical gardens which helps to pull of the surrounding landscape features far into the building and thus life outside the hospital with inside. This is the preconditions for our visions of the hospital with healing architecture securely anchored.

Hospital Lillebaelt Kolding pulls the green landscape elements in as an important element in healing architecture - concept. The green identity materialize, however, not only as an image but is deeply rooted in the new hospital that regard. As well as indoor climate energetically optimal. The synergy between the elements of Healing architecture and sustainability concept is pointing towards the future hospital with man in the center and with great social and architectural expression.

The project is the result of a competition won in 2010.
