Hotel Best Western Regina Elena

Hotel Best Western Regina Elena

Pratic S.p.A. as Manufacturers

Continuity with pre-existing structures and dialogue with indoor space, with a touch of modernity and style. This is the result of an intervention of renovation and reorganization of the outdoor spaces of Regina Elena, a modern hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure, which has installed three bioclimatic pergolas Opera by Pratic– the leading company in Italy in the design and production of pergolas, awnings, outdoor structures and terraces.

The outdoor space of the hotel, not initially conceived to be usable in the hottest hours, becomes a comfortable ideal extension of the existing veranda. Opera structure, rigorous and functional, perfectly blends with these forms and actually extends them towards the coast. In fact, Regina Elena Hotel is located on the beautiful promenade that leads to Portofino, with an enchanting panoramic view.

Pratic flexibility allowed to install three elements of different heights, for a total surface of 46 square meters. This is a valid choice because the entire construction appears to be in harmony with the architectural set-up of the existing building and allows the gaze to move from one space to another in harmony with the veranda, thus creating continuity. The self-supporting profiles of the pergolas are prospectively aligned with those of the veranda, in order to leave the suggestive sea view intact, even from inside.

The new space is part of a restoration project of the entire outdoor area, designed by the architect Barbara Rossi of the ProjectAB Studio in Rome. About 300 square meters, which have been redesigned to offer guests an exclusive place with the creation of new green surfaces, relaxing spaces and areas dedicated to food court, in which they can enjoy the sea breeze.

The numerous flowerbeds and natural split stone floor gives a lively sensation to the surrounding area. Opera pergolas guarantee the necessary shelter and the correct ventilation. The three structures, in an elegant white RAL9010 color, allow you to interpret the outdoor space and to live it, as well as the indoor space, hosting a breakfast area and bar, functional and comfortable spaces in order to fully enjoy the proximity to the sea and the breathtaking view.

Thanks to the special aluminum sun-shading blades, which can rotate up to 140 degrees, one can modulate the light intensity and achieve the natural air recirculation, avoiding the heat that can become unbearable in the central hours of the day. Hotels usually devote many resources and wide space to breakfast. This renovation of the outdoor area has been designed also to meet the expectations of customers, who choose to stay at the historic Regina Elena hotel. However, the result went beyond expectations: guests love to take advantage of the seats under the pergolas all day long, even to have a quick meal at lunch time. In the evening they can also enjoy a more glamorous space, thanks to the integrated LED lights, which at dusk make the atmosphere even more suggestive and sophisticated.

The lighting project should have included the insertion of additional lighting elements to increase the usability of the space, but the installation of the pergolas showed instead how much the diffused light of the spotlights integrated in the blades of Opera is sufficient to illuminate the space below. How charming!
