The clients came to us with the desire for a building with a tent roof in a southern European style. We interpreted this in a slightly newer, bolder and more modern way – and the clients were delighted.
The result is this detached house, which blends into the hillside in a structured and staggered manner. With a small satellite building serving as a guest and wellness area, it is set back from the road and opens up to the rear and thus quieter part of the property and the green edge of the forest.
Large incisions support the structure of this unique architect-designed house, with aluminium slats regulating the size of the window fronts. On the garden side, these slats are reduced and, above all, permeable, whereas on the street side there are no incisions for the windows.
The use of folded perforated sheets creates the impression of classic façade battens. This allows light into the rooms while blocking views from the street. Despite the small window openings facing the street, this has resulted in an attractive and inviting entrance façade.
