Located within the UNSW Health Translation Hub in Randwick, Hub Eatery was designed and delivered as a welcoming hospitality destination that serves the needs of a diverse community of researchers, healthcare professionals, students and visitors. More than simply a workplace café, the project was envisioned as a central gathering place that encourages connection, collaboration and everyday interaction within one of Sydney's leading health and innovation precincts.
Working closely with the design vision, Trinity Shopfitting delivered a high-quality fitout that translated the concept into a functional, durable and inviting commercial environment. Every stage of the build was carefully coordinated to ensure the finished space balanced aesthetic quality with the operational demands of a busy hospitality venue.
A defining feature of the project is the central kitchen island, which creates an open and engaging customer experience while supporting efficient food preparation and service. Open shelving, custom joinery and carefully integrated service areas establish a natural flow throughout the venue, allowing staff to operate efficiently while maintaining strong visual connections with customers.
The material palette draws on natural timber finishes, earthy tones and layered textures to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Thoughtfully selected finishes, soft lighting and integrated greenery reinforce the café's warm and approachable identity, transforming the space into more than just a place to purchase food and coffee. Instead, it functions as an extension of the surrounding workplace, offering spaces for informal meetings, quiet breaks and social interaction throughout the day.
The compact yet highly functional layout required precise planning and quality craftsmanship to ensure every element contributed to both customer experience and long-term performance. Bespoke joinery, premium finishes and careful detailing were delivered to a high standard, creating a seamless environment capable of withstanding the demands of daily commercial use.
