INOUT house

Joan Puigcorbé as Architects

This house establishes an uninterrupted ¨inside-outside¨ relationship; a sequence of layers between the open and the intermediary. Frontal boundaries are blurred by sheets of glass and vegetation, framed by two horizontal planes, floor and ceiling, where the full and the void are related via a series of matter, water, vegetation and sky. Lateral boundaries establish the ¨full-void¨ relationship via a series of solid materials that close transversal views. All bedrooms are arranged along the peripheries bordering the neighbors, leaving an intermediate space between volumes for social uses: kitchen-dining, living room, swimming pool, porch and barbecue.

Existing trees remain, uncompromisingly piercing the spaces they occupy. A perimeter curtain of rope and vegetation delineates the limits of the building element, creating a gap of shadow / light that qualifies a space between. A single material, Melina wood, dresses the inside and the outside. The apparatus varies: the outside is expressed as a relief while the inside is softened.

The kitchen table and the kitchen itself shapes a sculptural floor that presides over the social zone. The black gloss of the Absolute Black granite dematerializes, through its reflections, the gesture of formal forcefulness. This house responds to the existing features of the landscape and reveals new dimensions of the topography of place. In its formalization and materiality, the experience of light, shadow, earth, water and air is intensified. The general form is readily readable and fluid in its articulation of space.

LS990: Benchmark Applications of a Classic Design. JUNG as Timeless Conqueror of Unique Architecture

Signature architecture: the LS 990 has always had a close relationship with both architecture and interior architecture. This classic switch design naturally meets the demands for minimalism and reduction. With its simplicity, its vocabulary of forms and its elegance, this timeless design integrates easily into each architectural design.

The LS 990 classic design fulfils the promise of precision. The classic square not only proves its adaptability in unconventional buildings such as Third Place, a futuristic media library located in the French town of Thionville, but also in the 15-storey Exenterhaus, an office building in Bochum (Germany) erected on top of a bunker. The LS 990 integrates easily into each architectural design: organic and in harmony with the natural colours of the environment, as in Inout House in San José (Costa Rica), or as a classic statement in the LS 990 Dark design featured in the elegant-opulent ambiance of the Andaz designer hotel in Singapore. An educational institution for children that accommodates three different grades, the Les Tanneries complex, located in the French town of Lingolsheim, opts for purity by integrating the LS 990 in alpine white.

Organically in harmony with nature: Inout House in San José, Costa Rica

Located in one of Costa Rica’s major cities, the Inout House in San José relates to its captivating environment through smooth transitions between inside and outside space. Nature and luxury interior spaces are separated only by huge glazed façades. Existing trees integrate naturally into the interior. The open-plan room structure creates smooth transitions between the social areas of kitchen, living room and swimming pool. Thanks to the minimalist design shaping the relationship between glass and wood, the space – endless as it seems – nonetheless generates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Through its iconic integration into the natural landscape, ‘outdoor living’ is given a new dimension.

Variety squared: with its LS 990 range of switches, JUNG focuses on the, quite literally, vast potential of this living space, complementing Inout House’s avant-garde architecture with unobtrusive switch design. With its spectacular simplicity, the LS 990 design classic in alpine white and black is in tune with the building’s overall design.
