Set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Forest's lush vegetation, the JV Residence, designed by Pitta Arquitetura, reveals how contemporary architecture can interact intimately and respectfully with its surroundings. Spanning 260m² across two floors, the house balances modern lines, natural materials, and intelligent technical solutions that ensure comfort, privacy, and a complete connection with nature. "We sought to create a simple and elegant design, with the hipped roof clad in black shingles becoming a strong visual identity element while also integrating it with the landscape," explains Thiago B. Pitta.
The architectural design emphasizes the generous eaves, which extend beyond the house's boundaries and create transitional areas between the interior and exterior, protecting the spaces from direct sunlight and inviting outdoor living. This decision complements the color palette defined by the contrast between the grayish wood panels and the black metal structure, a choice that lends a sober and contemporary feel. "Our goal was to reflect the residents' desire for a welcoming and functional home, yet one that maintained a discreet and respectful dialogue with the surrounding greenery," adds Rodrigo Alves Pereira.
Natural materials are prominent: wood covers all the interior ceilings and extends to the balconies, also featuring in the woodwork developed by GM Marcenaria, such as the open-hearth shelving in the living room and the kitchen cabinets. The light-colored flooring runs through the living areas, terraces, and pool area, blurring boundaries and enhancing integration with the landscape. Extensive louvered panels and articulated shutters allow for light control and privacy, as well as ensuring constant cross-ventilation. "More than just comfort, the intention was to offer residents a full sensory experience, where nature enters the home and becomes part of their daily routine," adds Luiza Querido.
On the ground floor, the open floor plan integrates the living room, dining room, and kitchen with a central island, connecting to the gourmet balcony that can be enclosed with folding panels. Also on this level are three suites, one with doors opening directly onto the garden and pool, designed especially for children. Upstairs, the master suite and TV room/office create an intimate retreat with views of the Serra do Mar mountains. The landscaping by Plantare reinforces the sense of immersion, with tropical species surrounding the house, ensuring privacy, and leading to the pool, the centerpiece of the leisure area.
Eight months into the project and a year and a half into construction, the JV Residence reaffirms the essence of contemporary tropical architecture by uniting technology, aesthetics, and well-being. Suppliers such as Portobello (coverings), GM Marcenaria (frames and carpentry), Geo Cerâmica (lighting), Spot Iluminação, Polytec (barbecue grill), Marmoraria Di Pietra, and Mundo das Pedras contributed to the project.
