Moradavaga´s Installation "Kami in the Whispering Forest" is a interactive audiovisual Installation for the Christmas Market in Neumarkt/ Egna,Italy.
The playful approach of the installation invited visitors to approach the topic of “connection and communication” at different levels.
The work based on the classic motif of the chimney/ fireplace, which is known from various Christmas tales and stands also in relation to former (and also actual) house typologies in which the space around the fireplace serves as the central living shelter during the cold seasons and we imagine that it was (is) a core space of encounter and exchange.
The work interprets this act of communication by a stylized, shining smoke which connects the chimneys of the different market huts.
Inside the installation the red hut "Kami" is the starting point of the work, from which the conceptually energetic connecting elements flow. By entering “Kami”, a first audio station will rice us the question "Where do I find Christmas?"
In addition to the interaction with the red-shining pipes, which also works as kind of old style telephone, thoughts and stories of villagers can be heard in twelve audio stations of the Whispering Forest, which were recorded by the musician and sound collector Manuel Oberkalmsteiner in collaboration with the youth and cultural center Point of Neumarkt/ Egna.
