Kebabs & Kurries at ITC Mementos Ekaaya, Udaipur is envisioned as a refined fine-dining destination that celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Indian kebabs and curries. Designed by Architect Dharam Patel of Art & Architecture Associates, the restaurant translates Indo-Persian architectural influences into a contemporary hospitality setting, creating a space that is both culturally immersive and experientially rich.
Located within the expansive 100-acre ITC Mementos Ekaaya resort near Eklingji, the restaurant forms an integral part of the larger hospitality experience. The design seeks to go beyond conventional dining environments by integrating architecture, interior design, and gastronomy into a cohesive spatial narrative.
The arrival sequence is defined by a grand Persian-inspired arched gateway that establishes a sense of elegance and anticipation. This transition into the interior space is carefully choreographed to evoke a feeling of entering a refined and culturally layered environment. The interiors balance traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary detailing, resulting in a space that is both timeless and relevant.
A key highlight of the restaurant is its warm and intimate ambience, achieved through carefully designed ambient lighting and a rich material palette. The use of marble, wood, metal, and glass creates a layered interior character, while brass accents, mirror stonework, and golden glass panels introduce depth and visual richness. Walls adorned with traditional artwork further reinforce the cultural narrative embedded within the design.
The open kitchen concept serves as a central experiential element, allowing guests to engage with the culinary process. Framed through intricately detailed openings inspired by traditional craftsmanship, the kitchen becomes a visual focal point, transforming food preparation into a performative and interactive experience.
Spatial planning ensures a balance between intimacy and openness, accommodating diverse dining experiences ranging from private seating to larger group arrangements. Each zone is carefully articulated to maintain visual continuity while offering comfort and privacy.
The restaurant also extends into outdoor dining spaces overlooking the infinity pool and landscaped surroundings. Subtle lighting and natural elements create a serene evening atmosphere, enhancing the sensory experience and connecting guests with the larger site context.
Kebabs & Kurries ultimately represents a holistic approach to hospitality design, where architecture, interiors, and cuisine come together to create a memorable dining environment. Through its thoughtful integration of cultural references, material richness, and spatial experience, the project offers a contemporary interpretation of traditional Indian dining within a luxury resort setting.
