Located in the coastal community of La Jolla, San Diego, this modern family home brings the comforts of luxury living outdoors, with terraces and gathering spaces on every floor.

The home’s main living spaces are on the upper level, where an open-plan kitchen, dining room, bar, and living room invite everyday living and entertaining. Sliding glass walls open onto an expansive terrace, where a sofa arranged around a fire feature makes a comfortable outdoor lounge, and a dining table and built-in barbecue look out over the pool terrace below.

On this same floor, but separated by a glass bridge walkway and skylit lightwell, is the primary suite. Featuring a spa-style bathroom with sauna and steam shower, it opens onto an outdoor sitting area with fire feature. This lounge is just around the corner from the main terrace, and right outside the glass walled living room, allowing it to remain both set back from, and a part of the activity of the home.

On the ground floor, a secondary family room, kitchen, bar, and wine room adjoin five guest suites, while below that are a garage with integrated auto turntable, light filled home office, and dedicated car and dog wash facilities.

Partially shaded by the overhanging patio above is the resort style pool terrace. Including dining and lounging areas, an outdoor kitchen with BBQ and bar, infinity edge swimming pool and spa, and sunken conversation pit with fire feature, it’s surrounded by a grassy green lawn, and lush landscaping.

Bringing outdoor living all the way to the top of the home is the rooftop terrace, accessed by an outdoor spiral staircase. Wrapped in glass railings that preserve its airy openness and views, it includes a covered outdoor kitchen, BBQ, and bar, dining areas, sun loungers, and a generous fire feature surrounded by couches.

La Jolla’s modern design offers a variety of settings for the indoor outdoor Southern California lifestyle. Seamlessly balancing luxury and everyday comfort, indoors and out, it invites both the energy of entertaining, and the quieter moments of daily life.
