FGR Architects as Architects

Located on the corner of Orrong and Lambert roads, these distinctive townhouses provide an alternative for those wanting to leave their large family home and garden behind. At ground level are secured parking, a guest bedroom and bathroom together with a second living area, ideal as a children’s play area or alternatively as a home office. All homes enjoy private courtyard gardens. Open plan kitchen, dining and living areas are located on the middle level. Generous terraces via sliding glass doors bring a sense of the outdoors.

While these homes are sleek and contemporary, the emphasis is on warm and tactile materials. Stained oak floors and stone benches complement the open fireplaces in the living areas. One of the challenges in designing these townhouses, each one sharing party walls, is getting sufficient natural light. To achieve this outcome, fully glazed curtain walls, with finely framed steel windows, have been included.
