Home is a place where your soul feels peace, and the people inside make your life complete. It is especially true for the couple who lives in this 755-square-foot naturally-lit apartment at Bellagio in Sham Tseng. What they wish for is not only a fresh makeover of the abode but also a cosy nest that allows intimate interaction between them.

It was an ordinary flat with an ordinary floor plan before LittleMORE came on board to transform it into a New York loft-style home. The long windowless wall along the dining room made the entire apartment look dark and dull. To create a balmy and delightful ambience, the kitchen wall opposite the dining room was torn down and replaced with a sliding glass door and a half-waist kitchen island. This is a win-win design that allows sunlight to penetrate the space softly and enhances the connection between the two zones.

The study is another eye-catching point. The design team installed a lattice window wall along the upper part of the study wall facing the sitting and dining rooms, which makes the whole living area look larger than it really is. Similar to the sliding glass door in the kitchen, this lattice window wall also helps strengthen the interaction between the homeowners even when they are not staying at the same room. Sometimes a wall can imperceptibly keep people apart but interaction is the key to put hearts together.

Colour, materials and lighting are the little details that make the difference. The apricot wall next to the dining table, the rusty orange sofa, the dirty pink wallpaper in the master bedroom as well as the greyish green tone in the kitchen and the guest room complement one another nicely and harmoniously, without overwhelming the overall aesthetic.

On the other hand, wooden furniture scattered around the home and the wooden frames that cladded the windowsills matches so well with the array of pastel colours. The one-piece stone floor at the entrance hall next to the maid’s room turned laundry adds a touch of tactile interest and further enhances the loft style. Together with the easy-to-maintain herringbone wooden flooring, all these materials bring in just the right bit of warmth and vibrancy.

To add the finishing touch, different styles of lighting pieces light up the space as well as the homeowners’ mood with glittering and reflective effects. They also serve as decorative elements that create characters, texture and depth for this charming private realm.
