A retail project where design amplifies identity, inclusivity, and the brand experience.
Barcelona, January 2026 – Store design can be a mere backdrop, or it can become the physical expression of a brand's DNA. For MATCHA JEANS, the revolutionary brand of stretch denim for real bodies founded by two friends, the interior design studio chose the latter: to create a space that is, in itself, a manifesto.
The challenge was clear and exciting: to give physical shape to an emerging project with clear ideas, strong values, and the express intention of doing things outside the ordinary. The mission was to build a solid image with an unmistakable identity, one where the product—the jeans designed for all women, in all sizes—was the one and only true protagonist.
A Colour That Shouts Identity: Matcha Green as a Flag
The first and most powerful statement is chromatic. A powdery Matcha green, honouring the brand's name, envelops the entire space. This colour is not just a backdrop; it is a communication tool that "speaks loud and clear," generating a unique and modern atmosphere that conveys calm, naturalness, and a distinct personality within the retail landscape. It is the perfect curtain for highlighting the garments.
The Shopping Experience, Designed for Inclusivity and Functionality
The design revolves around two pillars: the celebration of the product and the facilitation of an inclusive shopping experience.
Heroic Product Display: A large exhibition installation has been designed to clearly, neatly, and attractively showcase the complete range of jeans. The multiple versions, models, colours, and sizes are placed directly within the customer's reach, inviting tactile and visual exploration.
Pure Functionality and Perfect Backstage: Above these displays, raw industrial shelving ingeniously solves stock storage with an industrial aesthetic. This system allows the team immediate access to any size, streamlining service and guaranteeing that the promised size diversity is real and accessible.
Fitting Rooms as a Space of Value and Community: Rejecting the concept of the fitting room as a mere cubicle, a space of value has been created. A well-lit, comfortable, and generous area, designed under the premise that trying on a garment should be a positive moment. This space seeks to foster confidence and build community among customers—a perfect reflection of the brand's values.
A Meeting Point: The Blue Heart of Matcha
At the centre of the premises sits a large MATCHA logo in navy blue. Accompanied by two pouffes, it creates a rest and interaction area that reinforces the project's close and community-oriented character. It is the graphic symbol that anchors the visual identity in the physical space.
A Project with Expansive Ambition
Matcha Jeans has taken off strongly in Barcelona, but its vision is national. This store concept, where interior design acts as a megaphone for an authentic and inclusive brand philosophy, lays the groundwork for its future expansion throughout Spain.
