Maxhaus Cambuí II

The apartment, located in the Cambuí neighborhood in Campinas/SP, already has a free floor plan, with integrated and continuous spaces, and had as main proposal the delimitation of environments through furniture only. The idea was to create a space that could easily be modified in the future, being able to receive another bedroom with the relocation of furniture.

At the entrance, a high and rectilinear countertop was positioned, which makes all the social reception of the apartment; it is in this place that occurs the connection of the TV and dining room spaces with the kitchen. The proposal was to create this more informal environment where the residents can relate to each other, especially when they receive friends and family.

The project's option to privilege the apartment's social uses meant that the laundry room was partially hidden and shared the space with the kitchen and the balcony. The oak slatted cabinetry hides a small tank and the washing machine fits under the black São Gabriel granite. On the balcony a small bench was created, next to the railing, which received a built-in electric grill and provides another environment for integration and socialization of the residents. An important element was also thought of there, the vertical vegetable garden, which is located in bags of waterproof fabric, and brings to the kitchen the experience of urban cultivation of small plants.

The floor and ceiling elements, along with a central pillar of the apartment were kept in exposed concrete and became protagonists of the aesthetics of the environments, gaining in the ceiling, even more strength with the lighting executed with spots and apparent pipes, all lighting uses LED lamps to reduce energy consumption and have a longer durability. The oak cabinetry is what divides the social area from the intimate one, and what delimits the kitchen and laundry area, the use of the same wood in all the rooms seeks to create a unique identity for the apartment.

The eastern orientation of the main windows (living room and bedroom), brings an intense illumination to these environments in the morning, making necessary the use of a roller blind and the application of film on the glass to reduce heat and block UV rays. Throughout the day the spaces do not suffer so much from insolation and at night the apartment has a pleasant temperature, greatly reducing the need for air conditioning.
