This relatively new condo was poorly cared for with outdated décor. The new homeowner requested for the interior to be updated with a more efficient floorplan to suit their lifestyle. A simple, bright colour and material palette were introduced for a youthful and energetic feel with a touch of mid-century influence. Some simple fine-tuning such as relocating doors and adding millwork created a functional space and much-desired organization space. By repeating the material specification for the entire space, wastage was reduced to a minimum. Existing appliances were utilized wherever possible. New dimmable, high-efficiency, high fidelity and small aperture recessed and concealed linear LED replaced previous inefficient lighting. New decorative fixtures added better functional lighting and ambiance. New white cement aggregate floor covered existing unattractive tiled floor throughout. A sense of play is created by adding a dramatic wallpaper to the master bedroom as requested by the client.
Who are the clients and what's interesting about them?
The client and his partner are good friends with our lead designer. So we had a good insight to what the clients were after for the renovation of their new place. The couple are both medical professionals who work shift schedules and often extended hours. Creating a home that could be an oasis and still allow them to entertain is a top priority. The clients are well-traveled and have a keen eye for design with lots of great ideas of their own. Our challenge is to distill all their idea into a singular vision into what became the final result.
