Combining two contradicting aesthetics in a singular building design is one of the most challenging aspects a designer can ever tackle in a project, but the CAS team managed to do it brilliantly in this Modern Arabic House Design in Basra, Iraq. The idea was to highlight the underlying tradition with a fine layer of modernity on the surface, so the end product turned out to be contemporary, yet Islamic at the same time. The CAS design team started off the architecture by emphasizing a water fountain on the exterior wall that extends throughout the interior spaces. Furthermore, segregated living spaces for family and guests were incorporated with respect to the religion. Large windows span all across the elevation and provide stunning views of the garden outside. The exterior is a successful subset of modern simplicity and a few traditional accouterments, both of which join together to give it a rather elegant and sophisticated look.
