Montiano Restaurant

Ofisvesaire as Architects

Located in İzmir’s bustling business district, this restaurant project draws conceptual inspiration from the client’s previous establishments, also curated by ofisvesaire, while being thoughtfully designed to harmonize with its surroundings. The design emphasizes fluid geometries and a strategic use of color, creating a fresh, upscale, and modern space that is both visually dynamic and warmly inviting.

As an Italian eatery, the design was inspired by the complexity, warmth, and vivaciousness of Italian style and culture. With family at the center of Italian culture, reflecting the importance of the very act of dining together was one of the main goals of the design.

As in many Italian households, the kitchen takes center stage and is the key element in the design of the project. Centrally positioned and crafted in collaboration with Michelin-star chef Osman Sezener, who was also charged with curating the restaurant’s menu, the open kitchen provides the guests the opportunity to embark on an immersive culinary journey through multiple senses.

The kitchen is surrounded by a chef’s table and bar, serving as an interactive interface between the open kitchen and the dining areas, offering guests an immersive culinary experience. Inspired by the ability of Italian cuisine to create intense and complex flavors with a handful of ingredients, the design celebrates the richness and sophistication of a selection of materials that exude refined elegance through bespoke tables, chairs, lighting, and ceramics.

Fluid, curvilinear geometries are a defining feature of the design, evident in the facade, column claddings, ceiling, and bar areas. These elements are complemented by the use of color, showcased on both horizontal and vertical surfaces through handcrafted ceramics, specially designed and manufactured for this project elevating the atmosphere. The result is a cohesive and sophisticated environment that bridges the culinary and architectural realms.
