The No.27 residential building is located in 1st district in west of Isfahan. It is constructed on an area of 420 square meters and with subtraction of 1256 square meters in 5 floors.
This residential complex in belongs to a family intending to construct a building instead of their paternal house where the family’s grand mother lived before. They want to construct this building that would allow all members of the family to live with their grandmother like the past time.
According to the criteria, we could have 4 apartments and one under ground floor as a parking lot. Therefore the ground floor was considered for the grandma as its access to the courtyard and entrance of the building, the first and second floor respectively for daughter and son and the third floor for the grandson.
It should be noted that each of these members resided in the big house before settling in this residential complex. Houses like their paternal house matched their lives with courtyard, terrace, parterre and water. This issue has an important role in its concept design. Since in most of the cases the future residents of the apartments are not known, the design is based on a series of general definitions. But in this project the future residents of the building are known and they are a family. Therefore the view on the design of the apartments can be unique for the project and it has differences, even if small, with general condition of design. The main idea was based on the fact that in addition to being fully autonomous, they could interact with each other and create spaces for the expansion of this relationship. According to the employers request to maximize the utilization of the areas of these apartments, this was achieved by establishing visual communication between the floors on the balconies and the patio.
The terraces in each floor are a porch that partly penetrates into the entire space of the apartment more deeply and allows residents to enjoy more spaces. In the terraces of the building by using brick surfaces, side views are limited to the courtyard of adjacent and vice versa and the view is directed toward the land that is to be turned into green space in near future. The use of bricks as the main material reminds the sensation of old paternal house and of course most of the old and historic houses in Isfahan.
Finally, the use of brick with the shadow that it creates gives us varied images of the building at different times of the day and at night this diversity continues with lighting.
