Set amidst the natural landscapes of Langkawi — between water, sand, and trees — this retreat house reinterprets the traditional Malaysian long house through a contemporary architectural language.
Conceived as a 120-meter-long concrete pier, the house extends delicately into the landscape, suspended between land and sea. Along this linear structure, a sequence of intimate spaces unfolds, enclosed by rotating wooden panels that allow the house to breathe, filter light, and connect seamlessly with its surroundings.
The design celebrates lightness and rhythm, echoing the vernacular wisdom of stilted architecture while embracing the material clarity of concrete and timber. It is both a shelter and a passage, a place where architecture meets the horizon and the tropical landscape becomes part of everyday life.
