This home with a music studio in the basement is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Because the property is spacious, it was possible to include two private gardens in opposite corners of the lot, with large windows and doors facing these gardens. The theme of the project was to create a place where the clients could comfortably spend their casual everyday life. No matter where they are in the house, they are able to enjoy the shifting of the seasons and the natural world.
In the morning, they eat breakfast bathed in light from the east garden. From the living room, they look out at favorite plants and the birds and insects that visit the garden. When they are cooking, views of greenery provide a relaxing atmosphere. In the bathroom that opens onto an enclosed balcony, they can take baths in an open, semi-outdoors setting. Even hanging up laundry is enjoyable in the sun-filled drying area. We were able to create living spaces that feel open yet still private and are not visible from surrounding properties. Large windows bring in abundant light and natural ventilation, minimizing the need for air conditioning and contributing to a sustainable lifestyle for the residents.
The overall aim of the project was to produce a simple space that the clients would never tire of spending time in, because the greatest luxury in life is to enjoy the peace and vitality of nature and gardens on a daily basis. The resulting design succeeds in offering its residents these timeless joys.
