The project is a renovation of an existing building, which was solved preserving the main structure and the five existing stories, adapting the ground level for commercial use and the upper levels for offices.
The main design guideline for this renovation was the use of existing features of the building such as an inner patio that provided light and ventilation in the building. This patio becomes the heart and design driver of the project: it turns into a linking element among interior spaces besides providing the building with natural lighting and ventilation.
The façade solution responds to the orientation and location of the building. Considering a south-west corner facing a main roadway (Río Consulado), an operable vertical sunbreaker system is used to control sunlight in the building and exterior views, plus helping mitigate outer noise.
This solution allows the project to have sustainable conditions providing the building with comfortable interior spaces.
