Rooydad House

The starting point of this project was a visit to a friend's villa, which was located in Damavand, and although it was located in a suitable land, due to the old and unprincipled building, it did not have the potential to be suited for parties and spending pleasant weekends, so the request was to create a suitable space without increasing the occupancy level and touching the facade. Because the hall is very small and it is not possible to receive guests and hold a party.

In fact, we should have reached a bigger hall without increasing the occupancy area and changing the plan. Since we were not able to expand horizontally and because of the load-bearing walls, we could not make much change in the plan. To solve this problem, we put the vertical expansion and adding the attic space on the agenda, and the work started for us from removing instead of creating. And with this technique, we were able to enlarge the overall space of the hall instead of area and increase the height of the ceiling. Also, we added two side spaces to the hall on the second floor to partially compensate for the small area of the hall and to achieve our desire to have several independent side spaces and a staircase connected to the hall. And further, by moving the entrance door, we added a few meters of the roof area that was outside the internal area to the area of the building, and we were able to shape the way of communication with the audience as needed. Another of our problems was the connection between inside and outside, which we achieved by raising the ceiling and removing the wall between the hall and the terrace and structural arrangements and replacing it with glass and leveling the floor of the hall with the terrace. The old fireplace was also valuable to them, which we kept in its previous place with a new design.
