A common problem faced by most apartment owners is the issue of storage - there never seems to be enough and yet most stock apartment units are ill-equipped to handle their occupants' storage requirements until a personalised intervention is made.

The modest interior design scope for this ageing Southbank apartment involved refreshing the main living and dining areas and providing more storage options for the home owners, negating the need for additional loose storage furniture which would take up precious floor space. This particular apartment unit boasts a regularly laid out 70 square meter floor plate which presented an opportunity to convert an entire length of wall into a running bank of cupboards.

An uncluttered aesthetic of clean lines, use of cost-effective materials (in the form of plywood and 2-pack joinery) and concealed fixtures were employed. Bronzed mirrors in the buffet-counter recess contrast well against the simple material palette. The overall result is a bank of cupboards, cohesive in both design and materiality, that 'conceals and reveals'.

2. Drawer doors and shelves in Grade ‘A‘ Birch plywood.

3. BLUM ‘Blumotion‘ soft-close drawer tracks.

4. Open plywood shelves with ABS edging.

5. Bronzed mirrors from Viridian.
