In the world of interior design, challenges lie as opportunities to give birth to creativity. One such interior project sprawling across 3000 sq. ft in Cuttack, Odisha had multiple challenges to overpower. From low ceiling-to-ground clearance to trapezium-shaped windows, the design team at Qube Designs embraced them all to craft interiors that articulate modern aesthetics.
The project brief comprised crafting 8 spaces with a distinct character imparted to each. From a chatty living room to calming puja space, the design approach was all about keeping an eye on the details to bring out the desired essence.
As one steps into the living room, they’re delighted by the imported furnishings nestling within. While a TV cabinet adorned with a zig-zag pattern adds to the designer's flair, the square-design approach for the ceiling radiates a contemporary touch. The smart adoption of stone, wood, and veneer in the mood board activates the space to make it more warm and welcoming.
With simplicity taking the lead in this abode, the dining room carries elegance through its design elements. Sitting in the dining space is a small bar cabinet enriching not only the look but functionality as well. The dazzling hanging light illuminates the room and an eye-catchy circular mirror actively opens the table for interaction. A bedroom is a personal retreat from the chaos of bustling life. And such a personal sanctuary has to be dressed in a style that shines the user’s personality. Ar. Prachi Mahajan, Principal Architect - Qube Designs, worked on these lines for each of the bedrooms to elevate the aesthetics and enhance comfort.
The daughter’s cocooning retreat is composed of vibrant blue hues balanced with the richness of velvet. The luxury look is further amped up by ducco work. Flamboyant hanging lights in every room invigorate the spaces while also catering to the utilitarian aspect. Lighting serves as a focal point in each room with a design theme carefully crafted around it to hint at modern aesthetics.
The kitchen hints at an Indian touch without overpowering the modern style predominant throughout the house. With the kitchen demanding the utmost functionality, aesthetics weren’t to be compromised. Designers adopted a holistic approach to crafting the kitchen for cuisine connoisseurs not only keeping it practical but appealing as well. This space is home to modern appliances, plenty of storage, and ornamentation by tiles that interweave an Indian essence.
The Puja room wholeheartedly opens up for a soothing ambience amidst the eccentric style. The design approach successfully composes a spiritual vibe through a clever selection of lights. Here, illumination takes the lead in making this room powerful yet peaceful. The refined look aids in a focused spiritual practice for the users. The designer’s strategic planning opens up the doors of this abode to interiors that are functionally smart and doesn’t shy away from composing a stunning picture. High attention to detail along with uncompromised quality on the material palette results in spaces that encapsulate modern aesthetics. Not a nook goes by without leaving an impression on the users or visitors!
