The Lumina Workspace, Dublin

Visualization by 100CGI Studio for a design consultancy: The Lumina Workspace, a 1,700 sq m office over several floors in Dublin's Silicon Docks. Six stills were delivered in 30 days, and the set did three jobs before fit-out: testing how people move through the floors, checking a layered lighting design, and giving procurement something firm to price.

The design is built on contrast. Exposed concrete and structural metal sit against warm oak and fluted glass, and two of those surfaces behave in opposite ways. Matte micro-cement swallows light; fluted glass throws it back in streaks. With a careless lighting rig the floor turns muddy and the partitions bloom.

Each material was built physically, and the lighting was calibrated as one matrix rather than switched on layer by layer: a diffuse glow from the stretched ceiling, with directional spots tracing the structural lines.

On the green accent panels the saturation was held back. A strong color on a backlit wall reads hotter on screen than it does built, and a client who feels oversold on site remembers it.

Rendered in 3ds Max and Corona. More projects from the city: office rendering in Dublin. Full case study: The Lumina Workspace.
