A kitchen island, living room, bicycle storage, garden shed, mezzanine, straight-flight staircase, guest room, bathroom, home office and walk-in closet — it’s all there!
Our client’s ambition was to create a home with a minimal footprint yet a maximum programme. And of course, zero-ready, with a targeted GPR score of at least 7.5.
All of this was achieved within a permitted footprint of just 50 m². The result is a clear, sustainable little house with a remarkably generous sense of space.
We can truly call this a Tiny Villa!
The design
The Tiny Villa is founded on energy piles, allowing the house to be heated and cooled by means of a ground-source heat pump in combination with underfloor heating.
To make this possible, high-performance insulation is crucial. The house is constructed from prefabricated hybrid timber-frame elements with exceptionally high insulation values. At the same time, these elements have been kept as slender as possible in order to maximise the usable living area. The façade build-up has a total thickness of just 237 mm. This is partly achieved through the use of larch timber cladding, invisibly mounted using the Derako fixing system.
Thanks to the high level of insulation, the compact building volume and the application of high-quality PV panels, the Tiny Villa is energy neutral.
