Het Reiswinkeltje is well-known in Roeselare. They invested in a better service, and also in a new look. Thus a new volume was build next to the old agency, on an open plot along a busy road.
Declerck-Daels, Architecten conceived a distinctive white and compact sculpture, as a small landmark. It contrasts with the old agency in terms of perception, in terms of appearance and in the use of materials, forms and light.
The white stucco block was put a concrete base. It has a large gaping entry niche in the façade, with colored cladding. This refers to the colorful travel brochures and exotic destinations. The large window in black aluminum is inviting, and also serves as a showcase for last-minute offers.
The same color palette is found inside : white walls, concrete ceilings and floors, white furniture, black aluminum, a wooden table and stairs, and colorful brochures, posters and decorations. It focuses on the experience and comfort of both the customers and owners. There’s an abundance of light, and the customers space is transparant. The multipurpose room at first level, is oriented to the backyard.
The landscape design combines vegetation, gravel, and concrete paths leading to the entrances. The site has retained its slope.
Also the brand logo was redesigned, in accordance to the architecture.
The project is the result of a strong symbiosis between architecture, interior design and landscaping. It is padded out with playful accents. Sophisticated, striking and worth a visit.
