The concept of this summer house in Tzia is derived from a close study of the methods of land sculpting and terracing traditionally employed by the islanders to produce horizontal surfaces suited to cultivation. The building’s section steps are designed in harmony with the landscape to create a sequence of public and private spaces. The result is a house which arises from the landscape and creates an absorbing study of island architecture.
