Villa Luisa

Villa Luisa

LoCa Studio as Architects

Luisa is a cook and the matriarch of a very united the family.

She invests most of the time commanding her restaurant with vivacity and a smile in her face. And when she finishes her long working day, she wants to rest, she wants to be at home in calm. Paradoxically that same tranquil house needs to be transformed in the weekly place for family cheerful reunions. Sundays Luisa cooks for her big family and for Christmas day even the extended family also meet at her place.

The semidetached house of four floor seamed however a very narrow and dark place. The stairs where claustrophobic and the space was uncomfortable for their family style life.

They decided to renovate the common areas to bright up their loved home.

We removed all the existing elements to leave the place rough-and-read.

The boxed stair disappeared to be replaced by a light transparent hanging stair. Metallic in the exterior to have a dedicated image with a wooden interior to transmit steadiness and warmness.

The kitchen needed to be the center fire for the tribe, but at the same time need it to be tidy and clean since it was going to become the entrance and storage of the house.

A mobile worktop in the kitchen is the solution to versatile space that is the center of the house. The cookers and the sink disappear when we are too busy to clean up or you have a visit.

The rest of the project is about color, light and wood. These three key tools made of this house a joyful elegant place where everything is perfectly organized to feel the power of space.
