VILLA M.T. | The House as a Free Gesture

With a typical floor plan from the 1960s and a development across two levels, this original house offered a generous volume for renovation. The intervention involved a complete transformation, both aesthetically and functionally, improving the spatial distribution and efficiency of the home.

The demolition of unnecessary partitions freed up the ground floor, where a spacious open-plan layout was created, retaining only the load-bearing walls of the original structure. This allowed for a fluid, versatile living space, where the usable areas are optimally distributed. The new design, while respecting the building’s historical memory, stands out for its simple lines and a clear monochrome treatment of surfaces, giving the property a contemporary and refined look.

The horizontality of the external projections is broken by large vertical windows, enhancing the perception of light and air inside the spaces. Movable wooden brise soleil add dynamism to the façade, while painted steel window frames frame the openings, creating a distinct visual statement.

Brightness, spaciousness, and comfort were the key concepts that inspired the project, while ensuring a high level of livability in the spaces. Every design choice was made to optimize the quality of living, making the house a modern, welcoming place that meets the needs of contemporary life.
