The design for this dermatology office provides a spa-like experience for guests. Ample natural lighting brings the space’s elevated textures and materials to life, transporting visitors as soon as they enter the reception and waiting area. Sweeping views of the Texas hill country are celebrated at the entry.
Remaining faithful to the Westlake Dermatology Mediterranean-inspired palette, the design for their Dripping Springs site balances moments of seemingly wind-swept plaster sculpture with unexpected texture and whimsy. Soft, flowing, Venetian plaster forms shape the entry and waiting areas, bringing an elevated texture to the walls, with a sheen that highlights the unique forms. These natural materials are cool to the touch and create a tranquil, calming atmosphere.
A poured in place concrete terrazzo floor is articulated by a custom brass inlay to provide a subtle hint of luxury. The marble-faced reception desk is also detailed with brass and bronze. A custom wood and steel screen provides a textural backdrop to the reception area, which, in contrast with the lighter finishes, offers a weight to the space. The feather-like shape of the screen masks the prep space while allowing light to filter to the medical professionals working behind it.
Custom, indirect lighting with a residential warmth complements natural daylight throughout the space, prioritizing human comfort. Exterior windows were added so that every experience provided in the suite would have a connection to the nature outside – from the sweeping Hill Country views celebrated at the entry & waiting areas, to the procedure & exam spaces. Creating a cool, oasis-like experience for the visitor.
Westlake Dermatology Dripping Springs heightens the experience of a medical visit to the level you would expect in a luxury spa environment.
