The project reinterprets an existing villa through a new exterior concept that establishes a dialogue between contemporary architecture and Middle Eastern spatial traditions. Rather than altering the structure, the intervention focuses on redefining the architectural language and atmosphere. The "House above the Lake" is situated on the northern slope of Lake Zurich. The sculptural building is enclosed by its rough surface facing the slope-side street, while it opens up towards the lake through its generous windows. Living in the Park The design instructions for this residential project were to design a modern family house from scratch that fits in well with the 1960s bungalow neighbourhood near the center of the city of Alkmaar in the North of Holland. To be able to comply with the desired square meters, a new freestanding two-storey house was designed with a sloping roof that refers to the old bungalows in the neighbourhood. The deep back garden and the unobstructed view of the adjacent park were decisive in placing the living room and kitchen at the back of the house. Villa C27 is located at a height of 5.15 m from the natural ground, on 8 main carrier columns. Consisting of 2 rectangular glass prisms of height 27.85 m x 9.00 m and 6.00 m, the villa consists of living and dinner areas, kitchen, storage and wc on one prism, meanwhile 1 master bedroom with master bathroom, 1 room, 2 bathrooms and laundry area on the other prism.
