Mountain Retreat Villa

Mountain Retreat Villa is a contemporary luxury residence conceived for a steep, forested mountain setting, where architecture and landscape are carefully integrated to create a private retreat immersed in nature. The design is organized as a series of interconnected volumes that follow the natural topography of the site, minimizing the visual impact of the building while maximizing panoramic views toward the surrounding forest and mountainous landscape. The stepped configuration creates multiple terraces and outdoor spaces, allowing different areas of the residence to maintain a direct relationship with the surrounding environment. REINTERPRETING A VILLA IN ABU DHABI

The project reinterprets an existing villa through a new exterior concept that establishes a dialogue between contemporary architecture and Middle Eastern spatial traditions. Rather than altering the structure, the intervention focuses on redefining the architectural language and atmosphere. AIYA Bureau AIYA Bureau The original composition of smooth white volumes is enriched with layered elements — arched openings, textured surfaces, and softened geometries — introducing depth and a more contextual expression. These references are translated in a restrained, contemporary manner, balancing regional identity with modern clarity. AIYA Bureau Outdoor spaces are central to the concept. The Central Courtyard Villa

The Central Courtyard is the most prominent feature of traditional Iranian architecture. It is a space which resolves cultural and environmental problems at one and the same time: in the face of harsh and unfavorable climates it controls light radiation and balances out radical highs and lows in temperature, and in response to certain cultural necessities it well defines and separates the private lives of its residents and keeps the personal away from the more public spaces. The Central Courtyard Villa employs these very pros while simultaneously attempting at a more contemporary translation of this long-lived Iranian space: the Central Courtyard here is opened to the entire surface of the project so as to resonate and echo its features thr... Duet

The philosophy behind the architectural design of the project reflects a harmonious duet, an interplay between two contrasting yet complementary elements. The concept of a duet is integrated throughout the design to symbolize unity, balance, and the beauty that arises from the coalescence of seemingly contrasting elements. Things Studio Things Studio Nature, our primary inspiration, has been gracefully blended with the structural components of the project. Each floor offers a different perspective of the natural landscape, representing the multifaceted nature of a duet, where every floor brings forth a unique aspect of the composition. The design of the structure on each floor is thoughtfully crafted to achieve a sense of complet... More

At Golestaneh

We are an architect couple. In a large, crowded city like Tehran, our work involves designing and supervising building projects; a pleasant yet full-time and demanding job. We always wanted to build a space for ourselves to spend our weekends away from the busyness of work and thoughts, or to rest a bit there after delivering each project. A place to refresh our minds and bodies, and a space for loving and living together. A place different from our studio or even our apartment, but as simple and logical as ourselves and our architecture. A familiar, intimate, comfortable, white space. Arash Ashornia "At Golestaneh," a poem by our beloved contemporary poet, Sohrab Sepehri, describes the feeling of this space in our minds well, and it... More

Villafranca House

At Villafranca House nothing is coincidence, it is design. A custom design project where the architects have taken care of every last detail inside and outside this resounding piece of domestic architecture. A home with an urban vocation, which looks beyond its perimeter fence, showing itself as a great design object that dominates its quiet and pleasant residential environment. Javier de Paz Javier de Paz Villafranca House is located very close to Madrid on a large flat rectangular plot surrounded by other single-family homes, all with their garden and enough space around them. A very monotonous and quiet context ideal for family life, where most of the buildings dialogue only with their own garden and do not look beyond the li... More

House above the lake

The "House above the Lake" is situated on the northern slope of Lake Zurich. The sculptural building is enclosed by its rough surface facing the slope-side street, while it opens up towards the lake through its generous windows. Ruedi Walti Considering the topographical conditions and the positioning of surrounding buildings and trees, the private areas have been concentrated on the middle floor. This arrangement allows the attic and garden floors to be utilized as living spaces, with one offering an almost uninterrupted view of the lake, and the other providing direct access to the garden. The centerpiece of the house is the two-story entrance, which serves as a walk-in sculpture, incorporating exposed concrete and walnut wood to har... More

Villa in the Park, Alkmaar

Living in the Park The design instructions for this residential project were to design a modern family house from scratch that fits in well with the 1960s bungalow neighbourhood near the center of the city of Alkmaar in the North of Holland. To be able to comply with the desired square meters, a new freestanding two-storey house was designed with a sloping roof that refers to the old bungalows in the neighbourhood. The deep back garden and the unobstructed view of the adjacent park were decisive in placing the living room and kitchen at the back of the house. The transparent facades, the open floor plan and the atrium allows sunlight to penetrate deep into the house. A lounge/ cinema room with an office along site has been created at the f... More
