Clinica L´Or

The design solution is related to the personal meaning of Luxury, the architects has deeply analyze this word in essence as the opportunity to use the time as a real value for art, contemplation, socialization and other luxuries in everyday life today. Also, the meaning of "Beaty" is relative, for the architects this word is extremely related to minimalism, elegance and synthetic material, Beaty is a quality behind the material, is just a concept. Also, the architects have a very specific interest in the first impressions o a new visitor intro the clinic, the first space is a reception lounge, with bar, table and sofas, is very clean and also very complex space, made in gold metal (brass) and white concrete. Delft City Hall and Train Station

Arriving in Delft is an unforgettable experience. From the outset, Mecanoo’s idea was to design a station that makes it clear to visitors that they have arrived in Delft. The station, in combination with the new city hall, sits atop a new train tunnel built in place of the old concrete viaduct that divided the city in two since 1965.Coming up the escalators, the impressive ceiling with the historic map of Delft unfolds (in collaboration with Geerdes Ontwerpen). When you look outside, you see the city and the old station as a contemporary version of Johannes Vermeer’s painting 'View of Delft’.A vaulted ceiling features an enormous historic 1877 map of Delft and its surroundings, connecting the station with the city hall. Within the stat... More

The Pavilion

The Pavilion at Coldingham Bay in the Scottish Borders is making waves as a modern, sustainable property that seamlessly fits into the surrounding landscape. Hunter Douglas has created a solid wood linear open ceiling for The Pavilion in Western Red Cedar, chosen for both its aesthetic qualities and longevity. The wood has been fire treated and is suitable for internal and external applications. Internally the wood is interspaced with a black non-woven felt to provide some acoustic absorption, externally Hunter Douglas employed a powder coated black metal infill for durability and to prevent damage from wildlife. Pamplona Bus Station

The New Bus Terminal of Pamplona was looking for an aluminium ceiling easy to mount, demount and replace in case of damage. The chosen 30BD was customized into a colour chosen by the architect and in a modulation on 100 mm to integrate the light carriers. The ceiling was thought as vertical application too and the light system was taken down from the ceiling leaving the 30BD as a decorative element. Amsterdam Central Station

"Pierre Cuypers designed Amsterdam Central railway station and the Rijksmuseum at the very edges of the city. At the time, the architect could never have known just how much the city would grow, or that these buildings would one day be viewed as obstacles to the surrounding area. The station, now a bustling hub of transport, no longer has a distinct front and back despite the rapid developments that have taken place behind the station, on the banks of the IJ. These developments have included the creation of 't Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, the EYE Film Museum, which seems to float like a bird on the water, and dozens of restaurants and cultural enterprises." This is according to Evelyne Merkx, of Merk X, famously known for converting Maastricht'... More

Library of Birmingham

Palazzo’s Centenary Square, the largest public square in the heart of Birmingham, currently lacks cohesion or a clear identity or atmosphere. Mecanoo’s design transforms the square into one with three distinct realms: monumental, cultural and entertainment. These palazzos form an urban narrative of important periods in the history of the city; The Repertory Theatre (REP), a 1960s concrete building, the Library of Birmingham, designed in 2009 and Baskerville House, a listed sandstone building designed in 1936. The busiest pedestrian route in the city, what Mecanoo calls the red line, leads pedestrians into Centenary Square. The cantilever of the library is not only a large canopy that provides shelter at the common entrance of the Library... More

Nya Triangeln

Large-scale renovation and expansion work in the heart of Malmö have resulted in an elegant complex that makes this district even more attractive. This residential and commercial building complex comprises a number of interlinked buildings accommodating a shopping centre on the ground floor as well as office and residential complexes on the upper floors. The light natural stone used on the lower floors stands in contrast to the dark, engobed terracotta on the upper façades, which, with its sintered surface, exudes a distinct metallic effect that changes depending on the light. The slimline profile of the TERRART® Mid elements creates a distinctive structure. More information about NBK Ceramic are on the Hunter Douglas website. (see link... More
