Savasa

Commissioned in 2018, INSADA Integrated Design Team was appointed to develop the architecture and interior design for Savasa, a compact residential development in Cikarang, West Java, in collaboration with Japanese developer Panahome. The project sought to demonstrate how thoughtful planning, sustainable design strategies, and efficient construction methods could elevate the quality of compact housing for modern Indonesian families. Savasa comprises two residential typologies. The first occupies a 6 × 11 meter plot with a total built area of 62 square meters over two storeys, while the second sits on a 7 × 12 meter plot with 72 square meters of built area. Despite their modest footprints, both homes were designed to provide gen... More

Sidney House

Set on a corner lot within Nordelta’s nautical neighborhood, El Yacht, this house is anchored in the uniqueness of its location: a rectangular plot with the opportunity to open its longest side toward the water. Alejandro Peral The ground floor is programmatically resolved as a concrete box that houses the common areas, above which rests a pure white volume containing the private spaces. The upper floor, with a triangular geometry, extends its longest side to the east, capturing the best views and visually prolonging the horizon line. Alejandro Peral Private spaces are located on the upper level, while the common areas occupy the ground floor, where large glazed panels open toward the water, integrating the interior with t... Bellavista Townhouse

The site features a gentle southern slope and a pine grove that must be preserved. Consequently, the house is positioned along the northern boundary to maximize southern exposure. However, since the quality of a house increases with its spatial richness, simply facing south is insufficient. Therefore, the volume folds to enclose a northern courtyard, establishing a sense of transverse transparency. Ángel Baltanás, Emilio Ontiveros The layout is compact. The ground floor houses the living area and the master bedroom to the south, functioning as a small autonomous unit, while the services and kitchen are situated to the north. Upstairs, the storage structure organizes five bedrooms and three bathrooms. The exterior feature... More

Lozoya House

The site is exceptional, offering magnificent views over the Lozoya valley and the Guadarrama peaks. However, it presents a significant challenge: a change in elevation of more than twenty meters between its highest and lowest points, alongside a rugged topography characterized by massive granite boulders. The program is straightforward, designed as a residence for a musician without a family, requiring only two bedrooms. Conversely, the owner needs a dedicated music studio and a spacious living area. Ángel Baltanás Ángel Baltanás The project resembles an ocean liner that, detached from its surroundings, sits horizontally atop a concrete volume embedded into the mountain granite. This base contains sm... More

Massivholzhaus Holzkirchen

Together with the clients, a clearly structured floor plan concept was developed for the detached house, which creates plenty of space for generous living areas and establishes a harmonious connection between the interior and exterior spaces. tschinkersten tschinkersten The building site is a quiet plot of land between old farmsteads on the outskirts of Holzkirchen in Upper Bavaria. The residential building is an elongated structure that stretches along the edge of the plot and opens up to the outside through a covered open space to the south. A skin of untreated local larch was chosen for the building envelope. This is pulled over the façade openings in places to create differentiated areas and also provide privacy. ts... More

House above the lake

The "House above the Lake" is situated on the northern slope of Lake Zurich. The sculptural building is enclosed by its rough surface facing the slope-side street, while it opens up towards the lake through its generous windows. Ruedi Walti Considering the topographical conditions and the positioning of surrounding buildings and trees, the private areas have been concentrated on the middle floor. This arrangement allows the attic and garden floors to be utilized as living spaces, with one offering an almost uninterrupted view of the lake, and the other providing direct access to the garden. The centerpiece of the house is the two-story entrance, which serves as a walk-in sculpture, incorporating exposed concrete and walnut wood to har... More

Bungalow Lobkovice

The house is designed as a single-storey without unnecessary barriers in the form of stairs, which was also helped by a large flat plot with access from the northeast. The house is divided into two main tracts with gable roofs of different pitches. One tract runs from the entrance to the south garden, the other is divided by a small intimate terrace. Tomáš Vlach Tomáš Vlach The living area is located at the very end of the house and extends across both tracts, the garden can be seen through the opening from the entrance. The gabled roof is admitted in most of the rooms. The children's room, materially separated from the rest of the house in its small "house", designed as one large playroom. When the ti... More

CC Residence

Have spent 9 years in Canada, the owner wanted to search for a natural environment for his wife and their two kids and immediately fell in love with this place. Located in Daan District, a very quiet residential area with many schools.  Suiyu Studio Looking out from the ground floor is a garden and the ceiling of the ground floor and the basement are both 3.6 meters high, which are a privilege to have in Taipei. We define our style as decorative minimalist. The design process is about adding layers and layers but paring back to the minimum at the same time, to create simplicity and achieve a sense of harmony. Suiyu Studio We tried to mix materials, colors and textures, such as wood and white beams, antique limestone fl... More

Single family house in Les Evouettes

The tradition in the more rural parts of Switzerland used to be for the younger generation to build a small dwelling – the stöckli – for the parents next to the main farm. The Evouettes residence is this in reverse: a small house for the youngest of the family, erected in the garden of the parents’ home.  The plot of land being relatively confined and the concept modest – limited to daytime accommodation, night time accommodation and an office area – allowed the realisation of a compact house on a square footprint which, nonetheless, offers expressive volumes through the shape of its roof and incorporation of a canopy on the south-facing façade.  This sheltered space responds to a number... Commonwealth

A brand new single family house in a well established neighborhood of Detroit, known as Woodbridge. On the exterior, the house is meant to follow the vocabulary of its context. On the inside, the house breaks up this pattern in volume. The double height living area is sunken, but windows from the outside are purposely raised high to prevent peering in from the outside. The raised ground floor is turned into a "mezzanine", only providing the entry, kitchen, and dining area and overlooks the living area. All bedrooms/private spaces are on the top floor.     More

Oasis 2 Residence

This luxury residence was embedded into this steep hillside to overlook Lake Travis from two confluent directions. We were challenged to create views through, and access to, the pool from every room on the main level. In response, we created a glass jewell box that sits on top of a concrete plinth. The main entry area is an open void that bridges the lake to the user upon immediate entry. The lower level is is comprised of four individual private suites that pierce through the concrete shell to accommodate lake views.   More

Weekend House

The project of the house in Colares stared with a topographical research in mind, finding the most dramatic cliff between Cascais and Cabo da Roca, for a weekend house, on the west coast of Portugal, at the closest point to the Americas on European land. The site is located in the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais, just between the famous Lighthouse of Cabo da Roca and the nearby Santuário da Peninha, it is part of a territory which is constellated by windmills and local production of wine. The plot itself has first been spotted on Google Maps and has been further investigated for planning permissions to the local authorities, it is located at the very end of the Rua das Piroletas in the one and the only land left unbuilt since the...
