LH47, the largest architectural bureau in Moldova, has completed the country’s first solar‑powered sports centre in Durlești, near Chișinău. The building unites on‑site renewable energy with a layered, family‑centered program that integrates training, education, and recreation under one sustainable roof. Sasaki recently completed work with Deerfield Academy on a complex athletics and recreation project that involves the addition of an indoor field house, tennis center, crew tank, and the replacement of its ice hockey rink. This 132,000 GSF facility is the latest piece of the existing sports complex, continuing the tradition of linking all venues under one roof. The existing ice rink lies as the western end of the sports building, bounded by a cemetery to the west, wetlands to the sound, and the main campus road to the north. The Land Rover Regional Offices in Shanghai was driven by 3 primary ideas: 1) creating a porous urban environment; 2) creating a showroom space for a car company that would, in turn, create a contrast between the scale of the buildings; and, 3) introducing a dynamic façade to achieve a building without automated systems. In realizing these goals, it became apparent that the two towers had to be in the opposite corners of the site and that the shorter pavilions had to fill in the area in-between. The project consists in designing a dojo in Sonzay, Indre-et-Loire, France. Placed at the entrance of the village, it is the new equipment of a current sports complex.   With careful regards to the inside as well as to the outside, the orientation, openings and cladding of the facades are determined by the landscape, whereas the plan and the circulations are determined by the practice of the sport.   Thus, a square volume is fit in-between the gymnasium, the football club’s locker room and refreshment bar. For us the integrative strength of a strong roof structure represented an elementary typological pattern that we adopted in devising a new concept for Heuried Sports Centre.   The existing sports and leisure amenity by Fritz Schwarz and Hans Litz, which dates from 1964 and includes an outdoor swimming pool and two external ice rinks, required a complete renovation due the condition of the building and the need to modernise the operation of the facility, while a new ice sports hall was also to be added.   This required a volume that introduces a completely new scale into the district. Fes Aquapark Complex is located in a 10000 square meter site near thermal bath fountains in Fes, Morocco. In the programming phase, we studied Fes vernacular architecture, climate, politics, history, and culture. We focused on the fundamental components of Fes and tried to design by using its characteristic elements. One of the most significant concepts derived out from Fes was the Maze, which refers to the chaotic infra-structure of the city. Another concept which contributed most to the design process was the hybrid character of the Morocco architecture affected by different cultures like Barbarians, Spain and Islamic countries. The new sports pavilion is the final piece of the public sports complex of la Bosca. Between the two sports halls there is a new building for dress rooms that serves the entire complex now. A new outdoor sports pitch is also located on the flat roof of this new building.The new pavilion creates new relationship with its neighborhood. The transparent façade of the ground floor brings more communication between the street and the interior of the pavilion. It brings the sport activities to the street. The design idea pursues the goal of solving the architectural conflict between the large volume of the new sports complex and the small-scale buildings in the vicinity. On the other hand, the new building was to be embedded into the existing surrounding landscape without denying its function as two-field sports hall and club sports building.
