Located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, Mexico, the Santa Catarina Apartments reinterpret vernacular architecture through warm, regionally inspired materiality. The terracotta-toned palette and the use of lattices establish a visual dialogue with the surroundings, offering an aesthetic that honors tradition while seamlessly integrating with the majestic mountain views.

The project is sensitively adapted to the topography, responding to the natural conditions of the terrain and maximizing its connection to the landscape. The elevated volume and open ground floor enhance urban permeability, providing visual lightness and seamless integration between public and private spaces. This relationship is further strengthened by the presence of balconies and a landscaped rooftop, where vegetation acts as a natural extension of the surrounding environment.

Climate efficiency is a fundamental aspect of the design, incorporating passive strategies such as lattices, eaves, and patios to optimize ventilation and reduce solar exposure. Additionally, pedestrian accessibility is prioritized, with entrances designed to create a fluid transition between urban space and residential privacy.

The rooftop, conceived as a communal gathering space, features furniture, shaded areas, and an outdoor kitchen, encouraging interaction among residents. The fragmented volumetric composition avoids monotony, creating architectural rhythm, while its strategic orientation captures the best views of the natural setting.
